IMMUNE POWER DIET: VITAMIN C: THE SUPREME IMMUNE VITAMIN
More research has been done on vitamin Ñ than on any other vitamin. I have stacks of studies in my office library that make one point clear: beyond any doubt, vitamin Ñ (ascorbic acid) has the strongest positive effects on our immune system.
Here are some questions you can use to estimate your vitamin Ñ levels:
How often do you get sick? Are you one of those people who seems to catch every little thing that comes along, every flu bug and every cold?
Do you bruise easily, showing black and blue or brown bruise marks often on your legs and arms?
When you cut yourself, does it seem to take a long time for the blood to stop?
Do you often get nosebleeds?
You may recall in chapter 4 that you met the four key parts of your immune system: the thymus, lymphocytes (some of which become T cells), antibodies, and macrophages. Obviously, the stronger each of these components, the better your overall immune health. Let's look at how this one vitamin helps your key immune players.
